IC3 Global Standard 6 (IC3 GS6)

IC3 Digital Literacy Global Standard 6 (GS6) is the latest version of the IC3 Digital Literacy program. This program has been restructured to address current computing concepts, including cloud and mobile technologies; to align closely with educational requirements and ensure learners of all ages can validate their understanding of Digital Literacy. IC3 Digital Literacy allows candidates to demonstrate their ability to select and use the appropriate research, productivity, collaboration, and communications tools, to find reliable information, create content, communicate safely, and identify credibility and bias in modern digital environments.

The new structure is a comprehensive set of stackable certifications across seven digital literacy domains. It is composed of three exams, each awarding its own certificate, that validate an understanding of each domain at the basic, intermediate, and advanced levels.

  • Level 1 exam measures knowledge of fundamental concepts and essential components.
  • Level 2 exam requires a working knowledge of each of the seven skill groups.
  • Level 3 exam validates an advanced understanding of digital literacy and indicates that the candidate has the technical foundation needed to advance successfully along their educational and employment paths and support the development of more specialized technological skills.

IC3 Global Standard 5 (IC3 GS5)

IC3 Digital Literacy Global Standard 5 (GS5) is a previous version of the IC3 Digital Literacy program. Like its predecessors, the GS5 certification is comprised of three exams: Computing Fundamentals, Living Online, and Key Applications. Certiport is committed to providing a truly global standard, and as digital standards and requirements advance, so does IC3 Digital Literacy. Best of all, because IC3 Digital Literacy includes concepts and skills that apply to almost any school or career pathway, it's the ideal solution for any student or jobseeker looking to validate their digital skills. IC3 GS5 is comprised of three individual exams:

  • Key Applications

The Key Applications examination covers the most common features of the world’s best spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation applications. And, with the release of IC3 Global Standard 5 (GS5), this domain now includes app culture elements that will help the examinee understand how to obtain and maximize the use of some of today’s most popular apps.

  • Computing Fundamentals

Designed to help the user get the most out of technology, the Computing Fundamentals examination covers a foundational understanding of computer hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, and troubleshooting. And new to the Global Standard 5 exams (GS5), Computing Fundamentals will now also include Mobile Device and Cloud Computing concepts.

  • Living Online

The Living Online exam is designed to help users understand how to effectively use the Internet or work in a networked environment and maximize communication, education, collaboration, and social interactions in a safe and ethical way. The Global Standard 5 (GS5) release of this exam ıntroduces various new and enhanced modules including social media, calendaring, streaming, and online conferencing elements that truly measure a candidate’s ability to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

IC PHP Developer Fundamentals

The IC PHP Developer Fundamentals exam is an entry-level certification designed to validate the fundamental knowledge of technology that candidates will need to pursue a career in software development. As the first step to more advanced coding certifications, IC PHP is the ideal starting point for any candidate who is interested in PHP coding, but who may have limited experience with programming or coding. IC PHP covers all subjects needed for a solid foundational understanding of the PHP language, including substantial practice in coding parts of a fully functional application, and use of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.

The IC PHP Developer Fundamentals exam is designed around three critical objectives:

  • A framework of current thinking and practice in technology education and training.
  • Basic standards for test development and validation used in the certification industry.
  • New technology with ongoing updates to testing objectives and methodologies relevant to the latest technological trends.
  •

IC PHP covers nine domains of knowledge and skill:

  • PHP Fundamentals
  • Conditional instruction of control and cycles
  • Complex data structures
  • PHP code management
  • Data recovery and check in an HTML form
  • Maintain information in PHP

IC3 Fast Track

IC3 Fast Track is a digital literacy skills assessment that can be used to gauge the skill set of incoming students or job candidates. Based on the globally recognized IC3 Digital Literacy Certification, IC3 Fast Track can help assess an individual's ability to perform in any environment where the use of technology is required. Rather than individual pass or fail scores, the IC3 Fast Track exam reports on how the candidate performed on each question, allowing teachers to determine what they feel is a valid cut score or passing grade depending on the requirements of the institution.

The IC3 Fast Track includes some reporting capabilities that give the administrators a number correct and number incorrect responses for each student. The assessment also provides detailed summary reports to enable administrators to track a student’s progress for each of the objectives.

The exam duration is 50 minutes and the 45 questions in it are structured to address the purposes of the IC3 Digital Literacy Certificate exams: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online.

IC3 Spark

With a focus on younger demographics, the IC3 Spark certification addresses the same foundational concepts as its precursor - the IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. While both certifications target issues arising from the increasing demands of technology, IC3 Spark is created for younger children who may be new to computers and the Internet, or who lack a solid foundation in digital concepts.

IC3 Spark covers objectives spanning basic computing skills, key applications, and use of the Internet. However, as a single, 50 minute exam IC3 Spark is specifically designed for a younger audience and validates skills from three major objective domains: Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications, and Living Online.
